When the PGA TOUR Comes to Your Backyard

You know that feeling when something major happens right in your own community?
For a company that builds wireless communication solutions, having a world-class event, such as The Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert Resort, just 25 minutes from our facility felt like the perfect opportunity to show what our technology can do in real-world conditions.

The Challenge: Keeping a Tournament Connected

This tournament, part of the PGA TOUR FedExCup Fall series, is a massive operation spread across hundreds of acres. You've got staff coordinating logistics, volunteers managing spectators, and medical teams ready to respond at a moment's notice. All of them need reliable communication, but golf courses aren't exactly known for having great cell coverage.
That's where we come in.

Our Solution: A Closer Look at the WilsonPro Demo Kit

We're deploying two WilsonPro rapid deploy kits at strategic locations throughout the event. These aren't just temporary fixes; they are professional-grade cellular repeater systems designed for rapid deployment when reliable communication is non-negotiable. Each kit is built around our WilsonPro 4330 amplifier and includes tripod-mounted inside and outside antennas, all securely packed in a rugged Pelican™ case for portability.

At the heart of the system is the WilsonPro 4330, a high-power commercial repeater engineered for flexible, precision-tuned performance in dynamic environments. The 4330 stands out for its support of both wideband and channelized modes, allowing for optimization of signal strength and quality per carrier. XDR (Extended Dynamic Range) technology means the unit continually scans to detect and optimize signal strength, ensuring the system never shuts down due to strong exterior signals. Dynamic filtering is driven by intelligent, software-defined adjustments that guarantees reliable coverage even as the RF landscape changes.

Remote system monitoring is a significant advantage of the WilsonPro 4330. It connects to the WilsonPro Cloud for real-time insights and management, accessible via the unit’s built-in LTE modem or Ethernet. This feature delivers instant alerts via text or email for any issues, such as drops in signal strength, allowing prompt response and peace of mind.

How does it work?

  1. Signal Reception: Outdoor antennas capture weak signals from distant cell towers. The WilsonPro 4330 supports all major North American carrier networks and repeats signals on Band 12/17 (700 MHz), Band 13 (700 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), and Band 25 (1900 MHz).
  2. Signal Amplification: The signal travels to the WilsonPro 4330, where it is boosted with a maximum gain of 70 dB. The amplifier offers up to 26 dBm uplink power and 17 dBm downlink power per port, ensuring robust signal delivery inside, even in challenging environments.
  3. Signal Distribution: Internal antennas broadcast the amplified signal across the target area. The kit’s flexible, scalable design supports coverage up to 100,000 sq. ft., delivering consistent connectivity for calls, texts, and high-speed data.

The first kit is going to the First Aid station on the golf course. In urgent situations, dependable communication is non-negotiable. The second kit will be set up at the volunteer headquarters tent, guaranteeing officials have the connectivity they need to manage the event, no matter how busy the course gets.

Proven Technology for Critical Situations

This type of rapid-deployment solution has repeatedly proven invaluable. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided these very kits to pop-up vaccination stations nationwide, enabling seamless communication for medical and administrative teams under pressure. Their adaptability and performance make them ideal for temporary deployments like the Bank of Utah Championship, delivering enterprise-grade coverage without the need for fixed installation.

Why This Matters

Supporting the Bank of Utah Championship isn’t just about celebrating a local event, it’s about setting a new standard for wireless reliability under pressure. When you’re coordinating across a sprawling venue, “mostly reliable” isn’t good enough. Tournament staff, volunteers, and safety teams must have gap-free communication.

The WilsonPro 4330’s high bandwidth, flexible filtering, advanced scanning, and cloud-based monitoring make it the optimal solution for these demands. It maintains high performance even when many devices are active, while XDR and dynamic filtering continuously adapt to interference or changing conditions. The comprehensive, remote-managed approach removes guesswork and ensures that any challenge is immediately identified and addressed.

Technology That Shows Up When It Counts

For more than thirty years, our technology has empowered organizations to operate without communication failures, whether for public safety, commercial operations, or high-profile events. Seeing our solutions support something this significant in our own community is exactly why we do what we do.We were genuinely excited to help everything run smoothly behind the scenes. While the players compete for the FedExCup, our WilsonPro 4330 rapid deploy kits will be hard at work keeping every operation connected.
And that’s how you deliver world-class connectivity, when and where it matters most.
