True Wideband DAS for Complex, Multi-Operator Environments
November 13, 2025
When it comes to large, complex environments that must support multiple mobile network operators (MNOs) and a wide range of wireless technologies—from legacy 2G and 3G to modern 4G and 5G—few solutions can match the flexibility and performance of Wilson Connectivity’s Zinwave wideband Distributed Antenna System (DAS).Recently, a major multinational organization in India deployed a Zinwave system across a vast corporate campus requiring concurrent support for all national mobile operators and multiple radio technologies. The facility—featuring a mix of modern buildings, underground chambers, and high-density workspaces—presented a unique challenge: how to deliver seamless, high-quality connectivity for thousands of users on different networks, all within a single, unified infrastructure.
A True Wideband Architecture
Unlike traditional DAS platforms that require separate hardware or parallel systems to support new frequency bands or technologies, Zinwave’s wideband architecture covers the entire spectrum from 150 MHz to 6 GHz. This means that GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G NR can all coexist on the same system—with no need for costly hardware swaps or major redesigns. In this particular implementation, a three-sector headend was deployed to serve the campus. Two sectors provided direct coaxial feeds from base stations into chambers, while the third sector utilized Zinwave’s 2x2 MIMO DAS to deliver robust in-building coverage. The Zinwave layer extended across office areas, select chambers, and other critical indoor spaces—ensuring comprehensive, reliable service across the facility.Seamless Multi-Technology Integration
One of Zinwave’s greatest strengths lies in its simplicity of expansion. During the commissioning phase, the system was initially configured for 4G and 5G services. However, the site later required integration of 2G (GSM) and 3G (UMTS) for backward compatibility. Thanks to Zinwave’s software-defined interface and modular POI (Point of Interface), these additional technologies were seamlessly integrated—requiring only configuration updates and connection of available ports. The result? A fully integrated platform supporting 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G concurrently, delivering consistent throughput and coverage across all test points. Engineers noted the uniformity of performance throughout the campus—precisely the kind of predictability and reliability expected in mission-critical deployments.Adding GPS? No Problem.
As the project neared completion, an additional request surfaced: could GPS be distributed through the same DAS? With Zinwave, the answer was simple—yes. By connecting an open port from an existing GPS source to the downlink port of an available service module, and making a few quick configuration adjustments, the system successfully carried GPS signals alongside all cellular layers.Supporting five distinct RF layers—2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and GPS—on a single platform underscores Zinwave’s unmatched versatility and future-proof design.Ideal for Complex Venues
This deployment demonstrates why Zinwave is an ideal choice for airports, university campuses, hospitals, hotels, and other large venues where users from multiple service providers expect reliable, high-speed connectivity. Its ability to support any frequency, any service, and any operator on a single fiber backbone makes it not only scalable but also cost-efficient.A Model for Global Deployments
This successful implementation in India stands as a case study in flexibility, performance, and ease of integration. From accommodating multiple operators to integrating legacy and next-generation technologies, Zinwave continues to prove why it’s the go-to solution for organizations that need one system to do it all—without compromise. With Zinwave, wideband truly means wide-open possibilities.Featured & Trending Now
