Advanced Connectivity and a Scalable Cellular Network for a Growing Air Carrier
JSX, a semi-private air carrier based in Dallas, TX, offers a more comfortable and convenient alternative to traditional commercial air travel without the high cost of booking a private flight. The company’s new airport headquarters at Dallas Love Field has a metal construction that interferes with commercial cellular coverage. While this impacts the signals of all mobile network operators, the off-air source signal for each carrier varies. Additionally, JSX was planning to expand to a hangar on the other side of the airport and would require a solution that could serve both locations.
- The airport needed a solution to support communication for team and crew members on the go, allow for access to mobile apps flight management, crew scheduling, and airport ops, as well as backup and risk mitigation for continuity of operations
- JSX installed a Wilson Connectivity Hybrid DAS to receive, amplify, and redistribute existing cellular signal from commercial carriers to bring reliable connectivity indoors
- The system’s scalability, competitive price, and the ability to have the system up and running quickly with little disruption were key factors in the decision
- The airport now has a future-ready cellular network that can be expanded to the new hangar, leveraging their existing fiber connection to amplify coverage in the additional space

Seamless TETRA Coverage for a Global Gateway
King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is the Kingdom’s busiest airport, serving millions of passengers annually across the sprawling north terminal and support facilities. To ensure reliable communication for safety and operations, Wilson Connectivity's Active DAS was deployed to deliver comprehensive TETRA radio coverage throughout the complex. KAIA demanded uninterrupted TETRA radio coverage across its vast north terminal and associated buildings to support public safety and operational coordination.
- With thousands of staff, emergency responders, and passengers relying on clear communication daily, any gaps in signal could jeopardize response times or disrupt airport functions
- The project’s scale, spanning multiple facilities, posed logistical hurdles, while rigorous testing phases required precise execution to meet strict performance standards, all within an active airport environment
- Wilson's Active DAS, leveraging a double-star fiber-to-antenna topology, was tailored to KAIA’s needs, connecting Primary Hubs to Secondary Hubs and Remote Units via optical fiber for end-to-end TETRA service
- The system supports frequencies from 150MHz to 2700MHz, ensuring flexibility for future upgrades
- The scalable, all-fiber design not only meets current demands but also positions KAIA for future service expansions without infrastructure overhauls
